How to get a sharp, store-ready result

Start with a clean square source file. Keep logos, faces and important symbols away from the outer edge because Android launchers and Apple devices apply different visual masks. Avoid very small text inside the icon: it becomes unreadable in browser tabs and app drawers.

For most projects, use a 1024 × 1024 PNG with transparency or a well-formed SVG. Select a solid background for iOS and adaptive Android icons, then use moderate padding so the artwork does not feel cramped. The quality checker above warns you when the source is too small, non-square or contains transparency.

Why does the iOS icon download as a square?

Apple requires square source artwork without pre-rounded corners. iOS applies the final rounded mask automatically on the device and in system interfaces.

What is an Android adaptive icon?

An adaptive icon separates the foreground artwork from a background color. Android launchers can then display the icon using circles, squircles and other masks while keeping the key artwork inside a safe area.

Can I make a transparent app icon?

You can export transparent Android legacy and web PNGs. Android adaptive foreground files are transparent by design. iOS and Apple touch icons remain opaque for reliable platform compatibility.
